Choosing A RealtorIf you have ever sold a house, then you know that it’s not an easy task.

You should look for potential buyers, answer their phone calls, meet them… In other words, you need a lot of time to manage all this.

So, the best way to ease your task is to turn to a realtor (real estate agent). However, not every realtor is reliable. So consider the following tips when choosing your realtor:

  • Do research. Check local listings to find the best estate agents or look through the list of estate agents online. And before you choose one, talk to several potential realtors to define the best.
  • Prepare a list of questions. Basically, you should ask about his business experience. Your questions may concern the following: whether it is his full-time career or no, what selling he is good at (some real estate agents are good at selling condos, others are good at high-property). It’s also necessary to know whom the realtor was representing before you–a buyer or a seller?
Ask him many questions, and it will help you define in which sphere he is specialized in and which job he is good at. And if you need to sell your house, you should decide on the realtor who is experienced in representing a seller. Naturally, if you want to buy a house, choose the one who is good at representing a buyer.
  • Ask him for certain documentation. Ask him to provide you with a realtor license, which you can check with the governing agency. The realtor should  provide you with previous vendor references and information on how many houses he has already sold. Ask him for the listing (ordered array of items) per cent. What percent of the listings was successful?
  • Communication skills. Pay attention to his communication skills. He should express his ideas clearly and precisely. And there’s no need to talk much. Undoubtedly, having good communication skills pf the realtor are rather important as it greatly affects the predisposition of the buyers.
  • Personal traits. Pay attention to certain personal traits. Your realtor should be responsible, honest, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his job.

And lastly, be ready to communicate with your realtor. Define your expectations, find out his business requirements and start on. And remember, pay only after the task is completed.
