Top 5 Most Expensive Houses In The World
It took me a while but I finally came up with a list of the most expensive homes in the world. Read on.
1. The world’s most expensive house is Antilla in Mumbai. It belongs to an Indian business magnate, the director of Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani–the world’s fifth richest man.
The Hanging Gardens of King Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon served as an inspiration for the construction. The total height is 550 feet and the entire space spans 400,000 sq feet, with its gardens, numerous rooms for yoga, a spa and ballrooms. It is the first $1 billion house in the world!
2. Villa la Leopolda in Willefranche-sur-Mer (France) can unequivocally be regarded as one of the most marvelous and unbelievably well-constructed villas in the world. It is also the second most expensive home. Built by King Leopold II of Belgium more than 100 years ago, Villa la Leopolda is extremely impressive, with an area of ten acres, a breathtaking sea view and an amazing collection of gardens (the number of gardens reaches 50). The building used to belong to Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and later it was acquired by Russian businessman Roman Abramovich. The present-day owner of the villa is another Russian billionaire, Mikhail Prokhorov. The real value of this waterfront property is considered to be $506,000,000.
3. The Penthouse, one of the 82 apartments at Number One Hyde Park–a splendid modern building at the heart of Knightsbridge, Central London is the world’s third most expensive house. It is one of the largest apartments in London. All necessary attempts for security are taken: the apartment is armed enough to struggle against any attack (bullet-proof windows, a special secret tunnel leading to the Mandarin Hotel). This apartment is valued $200,000,000.
4. Ira Leon Rennert, an American investor and businessman, owns a huge territory (63 acres) in Sagaponack, New York–the famous Fairfield Pond. Its tremendous dimensions allow us to consider it America’s largest residential structure. The house consists of 29 bedrooms and 39 bathrooms. It has all the necessary conditions for sports and entertainment–two tennis courts and two bowling alleys, a basketball court and even an ice-skating rink. The construction of the property lasted five years (1998-2003) and its price fluctuates between $170,000,000-180,000,000.
5. William Randolph Hearst’s mansion in Beverly Hills concludes our list of the top 5 most expensive houses in the world. It was designed by architect Julia Morgan from 1919 until 1947. The entrance of the residence is adjacent to San Simeon State Park. The residence has 29 bedrooms, three swimming pools and a tennis court. It is listed to cost $165,000,000 and requires around $500,000 monthly to run it.
